We currently seek to employ an Accountant Financial Services on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week with the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba.
This position’s main purpose and primary objective is to provide high-quality finance support to the operation of the Diocese and its entities.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
FINANCIAL
* Using integrated accounting package Evolution by Sage – including processing daily payments, receipts, bank reconciliations and journals as required.
* Preparation of debtor invoices
* Preparation of recurring payment vouchers, journal vouchers and bank transfers (both internal and external).
* Prepare purchase orders when required.
* Perform bank reconciliations on all bank accounts monthly
* Perform Credit Card reconciliations.
* Prepare and lodge IAS and BAS returns.
* Using Diocese treasury function to maintain a daily cash flow record for all Diocesan entities.
* Responding to or redirecting inquiries of a financial nature from clients, debtors and creditors.
* Complete end-of-month reports, including Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Program income and expenditure statements for individual programs.
* Completing end-of-month processes, including distributing the client's bank statements.
PAYROLL
* Process payroll on a fortnightly basis.
* Answer payroll queries via phone, email and written correspondence.
* Prepare and lodge QLeave quarterly reports
* Run end of year payroll
We are looking for candidates who have:
* Tertiary qualifications in business or commerce or a similar discipline would be highly regarded
* Membership of a professional accounting body will also be well regarded
* Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance processes for data entry of receipts and payments essential
* Demonstrated proficiency in finance office administration practices
* Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processes and principles
* Understanding of financial accounting principles and the preparation financial statements
* An understanding of GST
* Current drivers licence
* Appropriate experience (minimum 5 years) in a financial accounting or similar office environment
* Proven ability to use SharePoint and Microsoft Office software
* Experience in the application and/or use of computerised accounting/funds management systems
* Active involvement in various financial accounting processes up to the preparation of financial reports
* Experience in payroll operations
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Behaviour consistent with Catholic social teachings
* A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
