Safety Engineer – Hunter Class Frigate Program
BAE Systems Australia is looking for a Safety Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program. The role reports to the Product Safety Manager and focuses on ensuring corporate governance, legal and customer requirements are met from a System Safety perspective.
About the Opportunity
Coordinate system safety activities within assigned projects and provide visibility on hazards, mitigation strategies and review results.
Prepare internal and external reports on each Project's system safety to support project reviews and System Safety Working Groups.
Lead the determination of safety requirements affecting material and component suppliers and vendors; recommend approval or rejection of vendor safety documentation.
Maintain each Project's Hazard Log and supporting documentation.
Maintain currency of knowledge on best practices in safety engineering within BAE Systems, Australia, Defence and Industry.
About You
Bachelor's degree in engineering (desirable but not essential).
Experience undertaking safety engineering programs based on standards such as MIL-STD-882.
Demonstrated experience executing safety programs in a large organisation or program as a Safety Engineer.
Experience creating safety cases and hazard logs.
Initiative, self-motivation and excellent communication skills for liaising with diverse stakeholder groups.
Background in Defence or Maritime setting advantageous.
Current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtain.
Eligibility for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations.
