Position Summary
Primary Location: VIC – Clayton South. We are seeking a Pipelayer / Operator / Labourer for the Temporary Water Supplies crew to join Service Stream's Utilities division. The role is permanent, full‐time, and reports to the Construction Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete tasks, roles & responsibilities assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor, ensuring safe, efficient completion of water and sewer projects.
* Install and maintain temporary water supplies for customers before, during and after Water Main Renewal works.
* Handle responsibilities associated with direct reports, including oversight and accountability.
Pipelaying / Civil Responsibilities
* Measure and configure pipe routes.
* Gather material and installation tools.
* Install and lay temporary water supplies; connect properties to the supplies.
* Conduct quality assurance to ensure a suitable, clean, and stable supply for all properties.
* Monitor and maintain supplies as required.
* Remove all temporary supplies upon completion.
Skidsteer Operator Responsibilities
* Operate skidsteer safely and efficiently, following safety guidelines.
* Perform routine maintenance and inspections to prevent breakdowns.
* Load and unload materials with proper weight distribution and safe handling.
* Assist in setup and dismantling equipment at job sites.
General Responsibilities
* Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations.
* Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
* Essential: Prior experience as an Operator / Pipelayer / Labourer in the utilities and/or civil construction sector.
* Preferable: Relevant trade qualification; Certificate III/IV in Civil Construction or equivalent.
* Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local building codes and safety laws.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
* Strong knowledge of skidsteer operations, maintenance and safety procedures.
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to make quick decisions.
* Ability to deal diligently, patiently and professionally with stakeholders, clients, sub‐contractors and suppliers.
* Initiative‐taker, able to determine priorities and manage work independently.
* Analytical with ability to identify and suggest process improvements and drive efficiency.
* 3+ years' experience within the infrastructure construction industry or similar.
* Previous industry experience within utilities, water and/or gas/power.
* Specialist experience in provision of civil services discipline.
