You will play a key role in supporting the business manage risk, providing input into the implementation of frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes and procedures by collaborating and partnering with stakeholders, advancing understanding of our risk, obligation and control environment. You will monitor the effectiveness of controls, compliance with obligations and risk appetite, as well as provide risk insights by identifying new / emerging risks and regulatory change, to support the consistent delivery of meaningful value to our customers. Where risk events or compliance breaches occur, you will facilitate root cause analysis, identify themes and work with the business to develop appropriate response. You will support the consistent implementation of change by ensuring that Great Southern Bank's frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes and procedures are applied, with a focus on embedding divisional senior leader accountability for risk management.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice and guidance to the Chief Customer Office division on the implementation of the Risk Management Framework.
* Manage the first line risk response, supporting maintenance of current and fit for purpose risk profiles.
* Partner with teams across the division to strengthen the documentation and assessment of key controls.
* Monitor and support the delivery and maintenance of compliance plans.
* Promote a positive Risk Culture throughout your sphere of influence, through education and modelling appropriate behaviours.
* Assess incidents, including incident / breach investigation (root cause analysis), and make recommendations on mitigating actions and control improvement design.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years in financial services with a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance in the financial services industry.
* Demonstrated experience in a similar risk and/or compliance role, preferably in the 1LOD and in Banking and Financial Services Industry.
* Experience in formulating and implementing compliance procedures.
* Strong experience in risks relating to banking, and the legislative/regulatory requirements around these (e.g. Privacy Act, Corporations Act, NCCP Act).
* Demonstrated experience with industry and governance standards (e.g. Three Lines of Defence, ISO 31000, APRA CPS220).
