Trade and Services We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter who is highly motivated to assist in managing the maintenance function at a large scale, complex milling/mixing site to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have proven fitter and maintenance knowledge within the food industry, demonstrate strong leadership and decision making skills and have an ability to implement efficiencies to limit production issues.
Permanent, full time role $***** per hour, wage based placement Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.30pm Tennyson Location Responsibilities: Assembly and fabrication: Fit and assemble fabricated metal parts to create or repair production machines and equipment.
Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand specifications for assembly.
Machining and shaping: Operate tools such as lathes, drills, grinders, and cutting equipment to shape and prepare metal parts to the required specifications.
Installation: Install and align machinery, components, and pipework.
Maintenance and repair: Perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical failures, and replace worn or defective parts to ensure equipment runs smoothly.
Inspection and testing: Use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit, and conduct tests to ensure machinery is functioning correctly and safely.
Documentation: Maintain records of work performed, including maintenance activities and safety audits.
Safety adherence: Adhere to safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.
Qualifications: Proficiency with a variety of tools and machinery, including precision measuring instruments.
Experience within the food manufacturing industry highly desired Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in fitting and assembly.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
