Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team.
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, overhaul, repair, tuning, maintenance, and testing of diesel and petrol/gas-powered heavy equipment including trucks, buses, dozers, and other earthmoving equipment.
You will also be required to detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition and ignition timing, fuel injection systems, speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, and wheel balance and alignment.
The successful candidate will have 3+ years' experience with heavy earthmoving machinery and the ability to comply with safety requirements at all levels. You must be able to work autonomously and in a team environment within your own crew and with cross-over crews.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on diesel and petrol/gas-powered heavy equipment.
* Maintain and test hydraulic components of diesel and petrol/gas engines used to power attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapers, buckets, and augers.
* Ensure equipment is in good working condition and identify areas for improvement.
