The Position
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and engaging closely with the Board of Directors, the Company Secretary plays a central role in enabling the TAC to meet its legislative, regulatory, and strategic obligations. The position leads the Board Secretariat function, setting agendas, coordinating papers, and ensuring minutes and records reflect both compliance and strategic intent.
The Company Secretary acts as a trusted adviser to the Chair, CEO, and Executive Team providing balanced counsel on governance, integrity, risk, and regulatory matters. The role requires sound judgement, clarity of thought, and the ability to manage sensitive and complex issues with discretion and professionalism.
Beyond core secretariat duties, the Company Secretary drives a culture of good governance across the organisation embedding transparency, accountability, and continual improvement. This leadership ensures that TAC's governance frameworks remain contemporary, practical, and aligned with the organisation's purpose of supporting Victorians affected by transport accidents and reducing road trauma.
Based in Geelong, the position offers flexibility to work from home or in TACs Melbourne office up to two days per week. TAC is also open to considering part-time applicants, (four days per week) or those seeking compressed working arrangements, who bring the right balance of expertise, experience, and leadership capability.
Success in this position is defined by the ability to combine governance expertise with strategic foresight, influence, and integrity, enabling the Board to operate with confidence and the organisation to deliver its mission with excellence.
