Experienced Community Dietitian required for a publicly funded service in the Northern Territory. You will join a small team of allied health clinicians and manage the growing dietetic caseload in four remote Aboriginal communities in the Big Rivers Region.
Responsibilities
* The caseload is a mixture of paediatric and adults, predominately Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, with a focus on paediatric growth support, adult malnutrition / unintentional weight loss, type 2 diabetes, and general metabolic‑related conditions. Most dietetic support will be delivered with individuals or families, however, some group sessions may be required.
* The trips will be one‑day, one‑night, or two‑night; these do not fall on Fridays, limiting the number of trips in a week (maximum two different communities) and allowing ample admin time.
* The role will include stakeholder education, updating of resources in remote clinics, and may include helping the Public Health Nutritionist/Dietitian(s) with the Market Basket Surveys (MBS) we conduct in remote stores.
* The role requires case‑management skills, experience with adults & paediatrics, and community education.
* The role involves occasional travelling to remote communities in the Big Rivers region by 4WD or light aircraft, staying overnight during weekdays.
* Collaborate with a team of OTs, Speech Pathologist, Social Worker, Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistant, and a Team Leader.
Additional Information
* Must be comfortable with small planes, driving, and overnight travel.
* Individual community trips will be 1 day only, 1 night, or a maximum of 2 nights.
* No trips on Fridays.
* Limit of up to 2 different communities per week.
* Ample admin time provided.
* Remote travel undertaken with another Allied Health team member.
* Own room will be provided for any overnight travel in staff or commercial accommodation.
Compensation & Benefits
* Locum rates up to $75 per hour + super (depending on experience).
* Return travel reimbursed up to $1200.
* Free accommodation for locums.
* Car available for occasional local use.
* 3‑month placement starting 13th January.
