School Officer - Assisting Student Learning (First Nations Education)

Location: Townsville, QLD

Salary: $***** - $***** per hour pending experience + Super

Commencement Date: as soon as practicable; term‐time position of 20 hours per week, continuing through to 4 December ****.

In this rewarding role, you'll nurture curiosity and a love of learning by providing hands‐on support in the classroom, assisting students to achieve their individual learning goals, and helping to create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning setting that values and respects First Nations histories, cultures, and perspectives.

With patience, empathy, and understanding, you'll build strong and trusting relationships with students, supporting their confidence, wellbeing and sense of belonging as they learn and grow.

Working closely with teachers and school staff, you'll help monitor student progress, celebrate achievements, and provide meaningful encouragement that empowers every learner to thrive.

Guided by Catholic values, you'll embrace the school's mission, prioritise student safety and wellbeing, and help create a welcoming, supportive environment where every learner feels they belong.

Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. The organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults‐at‐risk. The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government, and a working with children checks and background referencing for all staff.

Responsibilities
* Provide hands‐on support in the classroom to assist students in achieving their individual learning goals.
* Create and maintain an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that respects First Nations histories, cultures and perspectives.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support confidence, wellbeing and belonging.
* Collaborate closely with teachers and school staff to monitor student progress and celebrate achievements.
* Provide meaningful encouragement and empowerment to all learners.
* Interpret and embody Catholic values, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.
* Assist in creating a welcoming environment where learners feel they belong.
Qualifications
* Paid Blue Card (prior to commencement).
* Successful undertaking of working with children checks and background referencing.
* Experience in supporting students, preferably in a school setting.
* A strong commitment to inclusive education and cultural responsiveness.
