Viva Leisure, parent company to Club Lime is looking for those interested in development opportunities which may lead to club management, as part of our Future Leaders Programme. This programme is designed to develop Assistant Club Managers into future Club Managers and provide a pathway to manage your very own club.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Club Manager at our Gunghalin club in Canberra! In this role, you'll gain hands‐on experience and mentorship from industry leaders, while receiving personalised development, upskilling opportunities, and constructive feedback to support your growth. You'll be responsible for delivering exceptional leadership and promoting health and well‐being among members and staff, all while building the skills needed to progress toward a future Club Manager role.
The Assistant Club Manager supports the Club Manager in overseeing day‐to‐day club operations and plays a key role in delivering an exceptional member experience. Responsibilities include assisting in the leadership and development of a high‐performing team, maintaining a clean, safe, and well‐presented facility, and ensuring the club offers engaging programs that meet and exceed member expectations.
The role requires a strong focus on customer service, operational excellence, and driving new membership sales. In the absence of the Club Manager, the Assistant Club Manager acts as the primary point of contact and represents the club, ensuring continuity in leadership and service standards.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with:
* Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Strong knowledge of and a passion for the Fitness Industry
* Experience in sales and customer service, ideally within the fitness or retail sectors
* Demonstrated people management and team leadership experience
* Proven sales aptitude with a results‐driven mindset and ability to meet targets
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Drive membership growth by proactively following up on leads and walk‐ins to maximise conversion
* Monitor club performance metrics (e.g. Net Member Movement, PT Packs sold) and support improvement initiatives
* Provide coaching, feedback, and training to staff to enhance sales and customer service capabilities
* Ensure accurate onboarding of new members, including inductions and access setup
* Promote additional services such as Personal Training, Programs, and Group Fitness to enhance member experience
* Collaborate with the Club Manager on local marketing initiatives and community engagement
* Respond to member enquiries and complaints, escalating issues as needed
* Maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of club facilities and equipment
* Support safety compliance through audits, incident reporting, and hazard management
* Assist with administrative duties and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
* Lead by example, fostering a positive team culture and supporting staff development and recruitment
* Manage and support Group Fitness and Personal Training operations, including timetabling, recruitment, and lead generation
