We are currently seeking an organized and self‐motivated Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification, and preparation of custom-built sets, scenic elements, and temporary structures used across live events, festivals, exhibitions, and major productions. This is a full‐time, permanent role based in Sydney, NSW.
Responsibilities
* Fabrication and assembly of custom-built sets and structures.
* Read and interpret construction drawings for accurate fabrication.
* Maintain a safe workspace and contribute to efficient workflows.
* Build, assemble, and finish custom timber and mixed‐material structures and temporary installations in a workshop environment.
* Measure, cut, and assemble materials, installing hardware and fixings as required.
* Repair and refurbish structures to ensure safe reuse and quality finishes.
* Prepare components for transport and assist with on‐site installation when required.
* Maintain a safe and organised workspace in line with WHS requirements.
* Contribute to efficient workflows and continuous improvement of build methods.
Qualifications
* Relevant Certificate III in Carpentry.
* At least 1 year of relevant carpentry experience within the last 5 years, preferably in set building, event production, exhibition fabrication, or custom joinery environments.
* Strong practical knowledge of carpentry techniques relevant to temporary structures and custom builds.
* High proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, production plans, and measurements accurately.
* Experience working to deadlines in a project‐based, fast‐turnaround environment.
* Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality finishes.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a production team.
* Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in both factory and site environments.
Annual salary will be between $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
