Numbers Executive is representing a large-cap ASX-listed essential services business owning and operating long-life, regulated infrastructure assets critical to Australia's energy supply. A business of significant scale and strategic ambition, the Corporate Development team sits at the heart of this agenda; identifying, evaluating and executing inorganic transactions that drive long-term value creation.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Development and mentoring a team of Analysts, the Manager, Corporate Development will play a pivotal role in the origination, evaluation, and full-cycle execution of M&A and divestment transactions across the energy infrastructure sector. This is a high-impact, commercially focused position with direct exposure to the CFO, Board, and external financial advisers; requiring intellectual rigour to drive complex valuation and financial analysis and the interpersonal capability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships. The successful candidate will own transaction processes end-to-end: from initial screening and Investment Committee reporting through to due diligence coordination, bid submission, negotiation, and commercial close. Beyond transactions, the role contributes meaningfully to the organisation's broader strategic growth initiatives, partnering with various internal divisions to support organic growth investments.
Required Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in M&A transaction execution, ideally gained within investment banking, corporate advisory, or a corporate development function within a listed or major private entity, with exposure to utilities, infrastructure and/or energy sectors. Strong financial modelling capability and valuation experience is essential, and candidates will be required to demonstrate sophisticated commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and articulate key value drivers and risks. Experience managing complex, multi-workstream processes to tight deadlines is critical, as is the ability to communicate with clarity and conviction to executive and Board-level audiences. Candidates should hold formal qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or Law (or equivalent) and will likely have post-qualifications in accounting or finance.
This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
