Remuneration package of up to $177,328 per annum*
*Remuneration is based on salary ($132,753), superannuation ($15,930) and attraction and retention incentive (ARI) payments ($28,645) and leave loading.
ARI payments are subject to periodic review and approval. The ARI payment is set to expire on 31 December 2026. Extension of the ARI payment beyond that term is subject to further government decision.

The role
In the role of Inspector of Mines – Mechanical you will form part of a dynamic team responsible for administering the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. Drawing on your substantial mechanical experience and exposure to mine safety systems, you will play a vital role in driving continuous improvement, conducting inspections, technical audits and investigations, preparing reports, and promoting best practices across the industry.
Your knowledge of mechanical safety regulations and experience in regulatory or risk‐management environments within the resources sector will be key to your success in this role.
You will bring to the team your mechanical expertise, analytical thinking, strong understanding of WHS legislation, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and confidently to a wide range of stakeholders.
Qualifications & requirements
* A tertiary vocational or trade qualification in a mechanical discipline relevant to the resources sector.
* Demonstrated knowledge and substantial experience in the mining industry, within an Australian context, including practical application of work health and safety legislation and risk‐management principles with a mechanical focus.
* Experience and skills in conducting complex investigations, managing emerging issues and projects.
* Experience in negotiating effectively and engaging confidently with mine statutory position holders in a high‐pressure regulatory environment.
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency or indefinite visa to work in Australia at the time of application.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and provision of the required clearance.
* Evidence of qualifications obtained outside Australia with assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit (free service).
