We are seeking talented Compositors across all levels (Junior, Mid, Senior) to join our team from June 2026 on 6–8 month contracts. Reporting to the Head of 2D, you'll create high-quality, multi-layered composites for live-action feature films. Portfolios showcasing realistic live-action work (rather than stylised full‐CG) will be prioritised. We are a Nuke-based facility working in a Linux environment, so strong Nuke skills and confidence using Linux (including command line tools) are essential.

The Role: Compositor (All Levels)
As a Compositor at RSP, you are the final architect of the image. You are responsible for bringing together disparate elements—live-action footage, digital environments, FX simulations, and matte paintings—into a singular, seamless, and photo‐realistic frame. Reporting directly to the Head of 2D, you will work within a high‐performance Linux and Nuke environment. We prioritize artists who have a "photographic eye"—those who understand how light, lens characteristics, and color interact in the real world. While we appreciate all forms of digital art, this role is focused on high‐end live‐action feature films; therefore, portfolios showcasing realistic integration will be prioritised.
Key Responsibilities
* Seamless Integration: Perform high‐level compositing tasks, including blue/green screen extractions, CG integration, plate reconstruction, and complex 2.5D projections.
* Pipeline Proficiency: Build and maintain efficient, production‐ready Nuke scripts that adhere to RSP's pipeline standards and naming conventions.
* Environment Mastery: Combine live‐action elements with digital environments and matte paintings to create expansive, believable worlds.
* Technical Troubleshooting: Work within a Linux environment, utilizing command‐line tools to manage data and troubleshoot script performance.
Collaboration & Quality Control
* Inter‐Departmental Liaison: Work closely with the Lighting, FX, and Tracking departments to ensure all assets are delivered in a state that allows for the highest quality composite.
* Feedback Loops: Actively participate in dailies, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure shots meet the Supervisor's creative brief.
* Consistency: Maintain strict attention to detail regarding color consistency, grain management, and edge quality across entire sequences.
Senior & Leadership Expectations
* Sequence Ownership: Take responsibility for the look development and execution of entire sequences of shots.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical support to Junior and Mid‐level artists, helping them troubleshoot Nuke scripts and develop their artistic eye.
* Workflow Innovation: Help drive 2D department workflows, identifying bottlenecks and suggesting tool or process improvements to increase team efficiency.
What We Are Looking For

* Technical Foundation: A deep understanding of the fundamentals of compositing (layering, color math, optics, and tracking).
* The "Eye": An advanced understanding of light, color, and composition. You should be able to identify why a CG element doesn't "sit" in a plate and know exactly how to fix it.
* Software Expertise: Professional mastery of The Foundry's Nuke. Confidence in a Linux environment is essential.
* Portfolio: A reel that demonstrates high‐end live‐action work. We are looking for "invisible" VFX—integration so perfect that the audience doesn't know it's there.
