An exciting opportunity exists to join the Emergency Department at Wollongong Hospital.
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has over 500 beds. It offers comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
Responsibilities
To provide emergency medical care to patients while developing experience and expertise under the supervision of Emergency Specialists within ISLHD. This position is recruited by the local health care district and may involve (with the agreement of the candidate) working at any one or all of the following ACEM accredited sites – Wollongong Hospital, Shellharbour Hospital and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital Emergency Departments. However, site preferences will be sought at the time of interview and site‑specific offers made to successful candidates. The SRMO will participate in a seven‑day per week roster which includes evening and night shifts. This position is suited to doctors seeking more experience in Emergency Medicine prior to entering specialist training.
* Minimum two years post graduate experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
* Preparedness and ability to participate in after‑hours overtime and standby rosters.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), as well as time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary framework.
* Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self‑education.
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* A professional attitude and flexibility in work role.
