We are a client-side, multi-disciplinary management consultancy operating within the property and construction industry, currently seeking a Facilities Management Consultant to support our Head of Facilities Management.
In this diverse role, you will work with a range of clients, primarily in the Education and Retirement & Aged Care sectors, to help manage and protect their built assets by delivering expert advice and practical solutions aligned with industry best practices.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Facilities Management Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting our clients with the strategic and operational management of their facilities across the entire lifecycle of their property assets – from planning and construction to refurbishment and ongoing operations. In this role, you will be managing the expectations and outcomes for clients, stakeholders and contractors, and you will contribute to a wide range of service offerings, including:
* Management of Minor Capital Works – oversight and project management of programmes of maintenance works and minor works projects, tracking program and costs, and co-ordinating with clients and contractors.
* Tendering & Procurement – identifying and supporting the appointment of the right contractors and suppliers.
* Preventative Maintenance Planning – developing living schedules that reduce reliance on reactive maintenance.
* Asset Management – helping clients track, manage, and budget for assets across capital and operating cycles.
* Operational Planning & Team Development – providing peer reviews and training to improve efficiency and internal FM capabilities.
* Construction Consulting – offering expert input during design and build phases to optimise long-term facility operations.
* Building & Equipment Condition Audits – assessing and documenting condition, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* On-Site Support – providing temporary in-house assistance for day-to-day operations when clients need it most.
* Clerk of Works – Attending site and managing the alignment of site works to the agreed design, specifications, and quality standards.
Reporting and Salary:
In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Facilities Management, ensuring clear guidance, support, and alignment with our company values and the wider FM consultancy direction. This position is offered on a full-time basis, however, if you can only work part-time (3-4 days) please still apply.
The position offers a competitive salary package that will be commensurate with the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful applicant.
About You:
To be successfully shortlisted for this role, you will have:
* Experience in Facilities Management, Project or Building Management or in Construction, ideally 4 years or more.
* Experience in seeking and analysing quotes or tenders and managing or overseeing tradespeople and contractors.
* Knowledge of routine building maintenance requirements and WHS regulations.
* Willingness to provide strong and regular presence on site to monitor quality and troubleshoot issues in a pragmatic way.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
* A proactive mindset, a desire to take a practical and common-sense approach, and the desire to grow your career in a consulting environment.
* Excellent time management and willingness to work autonomously.
* A detail-oriented approach, with the capability to spot risks and opportunities that others may overlook.
