Position: Copyright and Licencing Librarian
Type: Part‐time – 18.125 hrs per week. Flexible working arrangements including remote work.
Salary: HEWL 7: $99,878 - $110,446 (pro‐rata) plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.
What you can accomplish in the role
In this role, you will support University‐wide copyright compliance and licence management, enabling academic, research and professional staff to confidently use information resources in line with legislative and policy requirements.
Working within Library Services, you will contribute to informed decision‐making around licensing, rights management and resource access, while driving continuous improvement in copyright and licensing practices.
Key responsibilities
* Providing expert copyright compliance advice and guidance to support teaching, learning and research activities across the University
* Assessing and advising on licences for electronic and print resources, ensuring cost‐effective and compliant access
* Delivering training and advice to staff and students on copyright, licensing and permitted uses of content
* Supporting contract and licence negotiation activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
* Exploring and advising on the use of AI‐assisted tools for contract review, rights management and licence monitoring
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing copyright and licensing processes and implementing enhancements aligned with best practice
What you bring to the role
You are an experienced library or information professional with sound knowledge of copyright legislation and licensing practices, ideally within a higher education or similarly complex environment.
You bring a strong analytical approach, attention to detail and the ability to explain complex copyright and licensing concepts to a broad audience.
You will demonstrate:
* Relevant qualifications and experience in Library and Information Science or a related discipline, appropriate to the Higher Education Worker Level
* Demonstrated knowledge of Australian copyright law and licensing frameworks
* Experience supporting contract negotiation and administering electronic resource licences
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with an interest in leveraging technology and automation
* High‐level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver advice and training and maintain productive stakeholder relationships
* Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
