The Role: The Head of Engineering & Projects is responsible for the technical, commercial, and delivery performance of all behind‑the‑meter projects across detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases. This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight to project engineers and subcontractors to ensure high‑quality project delivery that is commercially optimised, technically robust, and aligned with customer expectations and HSSE requirements.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Solutions Development:
Finalise detailed technical design of energy solutions
Define scope of works, equipment schedules, and materials lists
Review and support pricing inputs for supply and installation to establish project budgets
Project Management:
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and subcontractors to deliver projects
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required technical and HSSE standards
Maintain strong customer engagement and communication throughout delivery lifecycle
Lead end‑to‑end project delivery across design, construction, and commissioning phases
Manage key external interfaces including networks, regulators, and stakeholders to secure approvals and support commissioning outcomes
Drive delivery assurance, ensuring alignment to contractual obligations and high customer satisfaction
People Management
Lead, coach, and develop project teams to optimise performance and delivery outcomes
Ensure accountability across internal teams and subcontractors
Provide tools, structure, and support to enable efficient and effective delivery
Other
Ensure full compliance with HSSE policies and procedures, including risk identification and mitigation
Provide technical input into commercial, sales, and risk processes
Identify and implement process and delivery improvements to enhance business performance
Follow internal governance, legal, and commercial frameworks
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Proven leadership experience managing engineering or project delivery teams in energy, construction, or infrastructure sectors
Electrical licensing in Australia (NSW and SA preferred; other states desirable)
Strong project management capability across complex, multi‑stakeholder environments
Experience in HSSE, risk management, and contract delivery frameworks
Strong stakeholder engagement skills across large organisations
Established industry network across subcontractors, OEMs, and technology partners
Understanding of Australian energy markets and energy usage drivers
Strong organisational, problem‑solving, and time management skills
High initiative and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
Willingness to travel as required
