Overview
Primary objective: Ensure delivery of high quality, culturally appropriate and effective psychology services whilst providing clinical leadership and supervision to allied health professionals within NT Health.
Context
NT Health provides integrated allied health services across acute and sub‐acute care, primary health care, aged care and mental health. The role focuses on rehabilitation, acute and pain services in inpatient and outpatient settings and may involve extended hours, weekends and rotation between Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate psychology services within a multidisciplinary framework.
* Provide expert advice on program and clinical issues within psychology.
* Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship and education to staff and students.
* Independently organise and manage a high volume complex workload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timelines and health outcomes are met.
* Initiate, implement and complete research, continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local or regional level to ensure delivery of contemporary services.
* Lead and/or monitor the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
* Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, protected services and workplaces.
* Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role‐modeling behaviour.
Selection CriteriaEssential
* Relevant qualifications in psychology that meet unconditional registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Extensive postgraduate experience in providing contemporary, high‐level clinical psychology services to patients and families/carers.
* Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients and families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
* Proven high‐level communication and interpersonal skills, including well‐developed negotiation and conflict management skills, with significant experience working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
* Extensive experience in clinical supervision of students and staff and a commitment to professional development.
* Proven ability to initiate, implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
* Proven ability to efficiently and effectively organise and manage a high volume complex workload.
* Demonstrated high‐level leadership skills with capacity to provide leadership in a team environment.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualifications in clinical education, leadership/management, speciality practice area or other relevant field.
