The Role

Lead and deliver a defined HR documentation uplift project across Southern Ports. This 12‐month fixed‐term role is responsible for reviewing, developing, and standardising policies, procedures, standards, forms, guidelines, and internal operating procedures to reduce operational risk, strengthen governance, and ensure consistent, compliant people practices. Success in this role will be measured by the delivery of a complete, approved, and well‐controlled HR document suite, with clear ownership established and sustainable review cycles embedded into business‐as‐usual operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead the end‐to‐end delivery of the HR policy, procedure and SOP uplift project, including planning, sequencing, dependency management, and alignment with external consultants.
* Establish and govern a complete master register of HR documentation, including ownership, approval history, version control and review cycles.
* Develop and implement document standards, templates and controlled publication processes, including the management of superseded documents.
* Lead and manage consultation with employees, leaders and representatives, ensuring structured engagement, clear documentation of feedback, and alignment with industrial and governance requirements.
* Coordinate and manage endorsement and approval processes to ensure timely, compliant decision‐making.
* Drive effective implementation and handover to business‐as‐usual through the development of manager toolkits, communications, training, and a structured transition of ownership, including forward review schedules and governance guidance.
Required
* Demonstrated experience in human resources policy, governance, or people‐process improvement within a complex organisation.
* Proven capability in drafting, reviewing and implementing HR policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
* Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks, with the ability to apply requirements in a practical organisational context.
* Experience leading and managing genuine consultation with employees, leaders and employee representatives, including managing feedback, endorsement and approval processes.
* Experience using document management systems (e.g. SharePoint or similar) to manage controlled documents, including version control and publication processes.
* Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, practical and accessible documentation for diverse audiences.
* Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to lead end‐to‐end delivery of multiple deliverables, manage dependencies and stakeholders, and deliver outcomes to agreed timeframes.
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively, demonstrating integrity, discretion and professionalism when managing sensitive information.
Preferred
* Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or a related discipline.
* Experience supporting organisational change or transformation initiatives.
* Experience working in unionised or operationally complex environments.
* Experience leading projects within a structured project environment, from initiation through to closure and handover.
* Familiarity with document‐control frameworks or corporate governance requirements.
