About the Role
We are seeking a Mining Manager to lead the development, commissioning, and operational management of our new Kaolin mining site near Meckering, Western Australia. This is a critical leadership position responsible for transforming a greenfield site into a fully operational open-pit quarry, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant extraction of high-quality Kaolin.
The ideal candidate brings along experience in quarry management, mine planning, regulatory compliance in Australia, and operational leadership in mineral extraction—preferably within the industrial minerals sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full development of the Kaolin quarry, from initial earthworks to operational readiness.
* Oversee installation of site infrastructure, processing areas, haul roads, and supporting facilities.
* Collaborate with engineering, geology, and project teams to implement mine design and short/long-term development plans.
Operational Management
* Manage all day-to-day quarry operations, including drilling, blasting (if applicable), excavation, hauling, and material handling.
* Implement and monitor production schedules to meet volume and quality targets.
* Optimize resource allocation, equipment utilization, and workforce planning.
* Ensure full compliance with Western Australian mining regulations, including DMIRS requirements and statutory obligations under the Mine Safety and Inspection Act.
* Oversee environmental monitoring, land rehabilitation, and adherence to approved mine plans and permits.
Qualifications & Experience Required
* Valid Western Australian Quarry Manager's Certificate of Competency plus SSE certificate (or ability to obtain)
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in quarrying, open-pit mining, or industrial minerals operations.
* Knowledge of Australian mining legislation, environmental standards, and safety management systems.
* Experience with mine planning software and performance reporting tools.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
