Senior Data Scientist

We are looking to hire a Senior Data Scientist to design and deliver advanced Data Science and AI projects that create significant business value. The role is hands-on technical with opportunities for informal leadership, guiding small offshore teams and influencing best practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Work across the full delivery lifecycle, from prototypes and pilots to scalable, production-grade solutions embedded in core systems.
Shape Suncorp's AI ecosystem, contributing to platform development, tooling and best-practice frameworks.
Act as a recognised thought leader, actively supporting and mentoring the wider data science community within Suncorp.
What You'll Bring
Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Data Science, ML, Statistics, Actuarial, Engineering, Maths).
Preferred: Postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant data science/statistical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
7+ years experience in Data Science, AI or closely related fields.
Proven experience developing and productionising ML pipelines.
Strong Python programming skills and experience with ML pipeline optimisation.
Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and neural networks.
Experience with Databricks (desirable).
Familiarity with Generative AI and experience building prototypes or POCs (mandatory).
