About UQ VETS Casual Veterinary Nurse
UQ VETS is seeking casual veterinary nurses for the Small Animal Hospital and Equine Specialist Hospital on the Gatton Campus. Positions offer an hourly rate of $50.24 to $53.27 plus 12% superannuation.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‐quality nursing and technical services within the Small Animal Hospital and Equine Hospital.
* Support the teaching of Undergraduate Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology students in a clinical environment.
* Act as sole charge nurse over a range of shifts, including day, afternoon, overnight, weekends, and public holidays.
* Apply high standards of professional veterinary nursing and maintain care protocols.
* Coordinate with colleagues, clients and students to manage professional and operational relationships.
* Maintain records, administer treatments, and support diagnostic and surgical procedures as required.
Qualifications
* Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and/or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, plus at least 2 years nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver and maintain high standards of professional veterinary nursing.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work flexibly with initiative and autonomy.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Knowledge of ethical requirements, principles and practices relevant to veterinary nursing.
* Understanding of relevant policies and procedures including workplace health and safety, employment equity and anti‐discrimination.
* Team‐player with effective working relationships in a team environment.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in veterinary nursing.
* Ability or willingness to apply for a radiation licence if required.
Additional Requirements
* Must be eligible for background checks, right to work in Australia and meet mandatory immunisation requirements for Queensland Health clinical facilites or equivalent.
* Vaccinations against vaccine‐preventable diseases (VPDs) are a condition of employment.
* Background checks may include right to work verification and mandatory immunisations.
