Survey and Geotechnical Principal Geologist Key Responsibilities
* Leads the inspection, research/data gathering, etc. during the site/route selection process of Substation sites and transmission line routes and implementation of all the service contracts and in-house activities for geological & geotechnical investigation works for the Substation (SS)/Converter Station (CS)/Switching Station(SWS)/Cable Terminal Station (CTS)/Transition Tower Station (TTS) and Overhead (OH)/Underground cable (UC)/Submarine Cable (SC) transmission line projects.
Route / Site Selection
* Leads/Participates in the conduct of Desktop study, initiate the creation of site/route composite team among TPD, ECMD, ECD, EPPD, ROWMD & O&M members and leads composite team during field inspection, research, etc.
* Provides technical data such as regional geology, geomorphology, river systems, tectonics and seismicity and route map of nearby geologic structures and geomorphic features.
* Prepares/checks/reviews and facilitates approval of the site/route selection report of at least 3 best alternative Substation sites/Transmission line routes that are technically and economically viable with due consideration of environmental/cultural/social factors.
* Participates during coordination with CPO, ROWMD, EPPD and CCPAD on Site Workability Assessment (Level 1 & 2) of final Substation Site.
Geological and Geotechnical Data
* Lead the monitoring of service contract implementation for geological and geotechnical investigation works for transmission projects to ensure quality and on-time delivery of technical data and cost-effective services.
* Prepare the terms of reference and standard bidding documents of geological & geotechnical investigation (either outsourced and/or in-house works) of transmission projects.
* Checks and reviews technical report/data of the geological and geotechnical works to ensure compliance to the contract and specifications.
* Prepares Evaluation / Validation Report of submitted Geological and Geotechnical Reports and Technical Evaluation Report / Confirmation SPT Report from service provider to ensure completeness and quality of geotechnical data integral in the design of foundation, slope protection, and hazards mitigation measures of transmission projects.
* Participates in the coordination with heads of different divisions, departments and functional groups concerned regarding the details of technical services essential for efficient planning, design and construction/rehabilitation/expansion of transmission projects.
* Leads the conducts of geological mapping, geological hazard assessment / identification, geological logging, geophysical survey and other necessary geological / geotechnical investigation work related to transmission line and substation projects.
* Provide engineering geological assessment of ground displacement and movement, settlement and scouring of existing transmission tower/substation structures in the aftermath of landslide, earthquake and flood and recommend appropriate measures for the stability of the structures.
* Prepares/checks/reviews factual geotechnical/geological report/data.
* Participate in site joint ocular inspection/validation of project site during the bidding and project implementation.
* Participates in the meeting and discussion involving geotechnical investigation works/data issues/concerns as necessary with other functional groups (i.e. SO, O&M, RRA, CPO and ROWMD).
* Participates in the coordination with government agencies and other external stakeholders (LLDA, DOTR, DPWH, Private entities and other Gov't offices concerned) relative to the relocation/engagement concerns of NGCP's transmission projects.
Technical Administrative Services
* Assists in the coordination/collaboration with Transmission Planning, Engineering Cost Management Department in the formulation/scheduling of annual procurement and contingency projects.
* Assists in the development and monitoring of the execution of good engineering practices based on Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures, existing standards and specifications for effective contract implementation.
* Implements the execution of policies for efficient administration of technical records, quality control of materials and consultancy services consistent with corporate policies and IMS procedures on safety, quality and environmental.
* Monitors the implementation of geological investigation and other technical services contracts to ensure that it is in accordance with the agreed implementation schedule, budgeted cost and quality standards.
* Prepares weekly/monthly accomplishment and status reports of all assigned geo-investigation activities.
* Provides feedback on the conditions/serviceability of all equipment and accessories used in the investigation for appropriate recommendations for quality improvements purposes.
Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geological / Mining Engineering
* Licensed Civil Engineer, Geologist or Geological/Mining Engineer
* At least 5 years of experience in engineering geological and geotechnical investigation of transmission line and substation projects
* Able to write and speak English and Filipino proficiently
* Able to use Personal Computer, Brunton Compass, Handheld GPS, Sample Pick, Resistivity Meter, Ground Penetrating Radar, Mobile phone
