About The Role

Working with the Aboriginal Cultural Capability Team Leader to promote and champion cultural capability, safety and responsiveness throughout the organisation. Developing key initiatives and delivering education and training to employees to enhance cultural capability and inclusivity within the workplace.

Strengthening organisational cultural capability and engaging with local Aboriginal communities to drive meaningful change. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver initiatives across Northern NSW Local Health District. Supporting staff at all levels to build culturally safe and respectful practices, while also working to empower Aboriginal employees.

Undertaking the rollout of the Northern NSW Local Health District's Aboriginal cultural training program "Respecting the Difference" and other bespoke cultural training. Undertaking the coordination, facilitation, evaluation and reporting on learning outcomes for all staff. The initiatives are aimed at enhancing the ability of all staff across the Health Agency to improve service delivery through positive changes to practice, particularly when interacting with Aboriginal people as work colleagues, patients and visitors.

Important Information

Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, as identified through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal, and acceptance in the community. Applicants must also be Australian citizens or permanent residents, or be legally eligible to live and work in Australia.

This is an identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander position under Section 14 of the Anti‐Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification authorised by that section.

Proof of vaccination may be required to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2026_004). A probationary period of six months may apply from the date of appointment.
