HumeLink West Project
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high‐voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW, significantly increasing the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. It is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365 km of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4 bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double‐circuit transmission lines spanning 130 km from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the interface point with HumeLink East near Gundagai, and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
The Senior Project Engineer – Stringing is responsible for providing engineering and administrative coordination for the design, supply, installation and testing of the project. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the project is completed in a timely and cost‐effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Project Manager with compliance to the documentation required under the UGL Management System.
* Review and plan the project with the Project Manager to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client.
* Liaise with Construction Manager to ensure the job is on schedule.
* Provide a focal point for all technical queries for associated subcontractors and suppliers.
* Provide engineering advice for subcontractors and suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 5 + years experience on transmission line projects.
* Tertiary engineering qualification.
* 5 years experience.
* Knowledge of AS9001 Quality Systems.
* Driver's licence.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
