Who we are
We are currently looking for a Health & Safety Consultant to join our small team at Health & Safety Works. Our team is based in East Anglia, and all consultants work from home. You may however need to travel further afield.
Role Summary
As a Consultant, you will provide advice and guidance to multiple clients on health and safety issues – supporting a diverse group of businesses, predominantly biotech and life sciences. You will conduct audits and assessments, identify risks and hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Responsibilities
* Provide pragmatic advice and support to clients on GMO and Biosafety, COSHH and general health and safety regulations. From home or onsite;
* Carry out health and safety audits and inspections;
* Assist in the delivery and development of health and safety training – we currently offer IOSH Approved Laboratory Safety, IOSH Approved Managing Safely, and a host of others like COSHH for Laboratories;
* Advise and instruct clients in the use of Health & Safety Management systems and other relevant technical documents;
* Support clients through effective crisis management where required;
* Submit any relevant reports or other associated documents in accordance with client demand and departmental protocols;
* Identify risks and hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them;
* Produce documentation such as reports, audits, risk assessments, etc;
* Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices;
* Work with clients to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in Health and Safety. Whether as a trainer, manager, advisor, or consultant.
* Professional qualifications, underpinning your experience so far, such as NEBOSH Certificate, Diploma or equivalent.
* In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and legislation. Or keen interest in developing this.
* Ability to manage your diary, balancing site visits and administration time.
* Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills, both in house and with clients.
* Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience in a consultancy environment is a plus but not essential.
* Health & Safety trainer qualifications would be of benefit.
Details
* Position is home based.
* Open to part-time or full-time staff between 3-5 days work per week.
* Salary is from £35k per year (pro rata if part-time).
* 25 days annual leave.
* Pension scheme.
