Join our team as a BI Support Consultant, where you'll own and manage our IBM Cognos Analytics platform from the operating system up. This is not a report‐development or dashboard‐design role – it's a hands‐on technical position focused on performance, reliability and security.
Where you'd be working:
Our Support Consultants work in our Melbourne office as part of our Victorian Branch.
What you'd be doing (your day will look like this):
You will be responsible for administering and diagnosing issues within the Cognos platform and its supporting infrastructure, including Linux servers, email relays and database connectivity. Your day‐to‐day will involve:
* Managing a containerised BI platform
* Administering, patching, and performance‐tuning IBM Cognos Analytics on Linux (RHEL).
* Troubleshooting email notification processes inside Cognos.
* Managing Cognos content store databases (SQL Server, Informix) – backups, reorganisations, connectivity.
* Linux server administration and basic shell scripting for automation and monitoring.
* Working with networking components (firewalls, basic networking and authentication).
About you
We're looking for a BI Support Consultant who has:
* Experience with Business Intelligence (Cognos is a real bonus).
* Problem solving and issue resolution with attention to detail.
* Solid troubleshooting skills for Java‐based applications.
* Knowledge of networking and authentication fundamentals.
* Technical background in systems administration and infrastructure is a bonus.
* Some experience with Linux (RHEL) and enterprise databases (Informix, SQL Server, Postgres).
* Basic scripting skills (bash/shell; Python is a bonus).
* Knowledge of Pronto Xi or similar ERP software.
* A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
* A positive 'can do' attitude and work ethic.
* Willingness to undergo a Police Check.
