Location: Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Australia.
Salary: 120k AUD per year

Primary Objective
As a Senior Controls Design Engineer, provide technical support to the project delivery teams by carrying out processes and tasks as assigned by the associated project lead or project manager. The Senior Control Systems engineer will be involved in technical delivery of projects, including design (software & hardware), development, commissioning, and verification, validation activities as directed by the project manager.
Key Accountabilities
Sales & Marketing
* Assist with the preparation of tender and quotation responses
* Evaluate suitable solution aligned to the segment, technology and our core technical competencies
* Work with Account Managers as directed to identify and evaluate new opportunities within existing and new markets
* Communicate identified potential opportunities to Account managers and sales leads
Project Delivery
* Lead development of PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions utilising vendor agnostic automation platforms
* Assist with the development of reference designs, tested validated design architectures to assist the Orise AU project delivery methodologies
* Share technical knowledge with project delivery teams across regions to develop segment specific accurate solutions for customer requirements globally
* Share experiences through technical retrospective / feedback sessions to improve operational effectiveness of delivery teams
* Maintain awareness of project and task budgets (man-hours for design, documentation, programming, installation and commissioning effort) to ensure project scope is met within allocated financial and schedule constraints
* Develop POC (proof-of-concept) lab setups for in-house training to junior engineers and as part of customer experience engagements
* Work closely with bid manager to overcome technical risks in an opportunity
* Perform FAT, SAT and commissioning activities on site to meet customer and project requirements
* Perform tasks related to technical scope of the projects in execution
Technical Assistance
* Provide engineering advice and support to assist in solving technical issues.
* Work with assigned project teams to develop engineering solutions to address customers' needs and requirements specified.
* Provide on-call services and maintenance (updates) support via call-out roster to SLA customers.
* Travel to customer sites, as required, to discuss project opportunities, carry out site investigations & audits, and find appropriate cost-effective solutions under the guidance of lead engineers and project managers
* Provide inputs to process optimisation of deployed existing solutions, during upgrades or as requested by customers

Decision Making Authority
Independent: Provide technical support and advice in relation to project delivery and emerging technologies within their range of qualification and experience.
With Input: Consult with Engineering Manager for input as and when required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Automation or a related discipline
* Australian Driver's License
* Must have the right to work in Australia
* Experience in designing, developing and diagnosing PLC, RTU, HMI, SCADA and network systems
* Hands on experience in SCADA systems such as Ignition, Siemens WinCC, Schneider EBO & PME, Tridium
* Experience in control system design, understanding hardware and software requirements and translating to associated documentation and drawings
* Ability to interpret control system requirements and create functional design specification (FDS), Interface Data Table (IDT), IO Summary, Cables and termination schedules
* Experience in risk and safety assessments specifically to address Hazardous Areas installation and commissioning
* Self-Starter, committed to providing great customer service

* Sound verbal and written communication
* Systematic approach to problem solving
Desirable
* Tertiary qualification in Electrical/ Power Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation or a related discipline or related trade background
* Experience in delivery of projects in segments like Data Centres, concrete, food & beverage (including breweries/distilleries), smart buildings
* Exposure to multi-vendor technologies for PLC / SCADA
* Understanding of electrical design and interpretation of requirements
* Relevant industry certifications
Physical Requirements of the Role
* Office based tasks, site work including audits, service, installation and commissioning, travel by car.
