Merri-bek City Council Community Engagement Partner – Capital Works
The Community Engagement Partner – Capital Works is jointly responsible for planning community engagement initiatives for Council's capital works program, including upgrades to Council-owned buildings, sports fields, footpaths, bike paths, road resurfacing and reconstruction. The role applies a relationship‐focused, capacity‐building approach to engaging Council and the broader community, advising on participatory processes and building Council's reputation and relationships with the Merri‐bek community.
Working Conditions
* Full‐time, maximum‐term contract to June 2028 (based on 38 hours per week)
* Hybrid working arrangement
* Monthly RDO
* Salary: $102K – $111K + Super
* Ability to transfer or take Long Service Leave within Local Government
Qualifications & Experience Required
* Knowledge of community consultation and engagement models, including the IAP2 Public Participation Spectrum and Core Values.
* Strong partnership‐building skills with stakeholders to develop community engagement capacity.
* Experience with quantitative social research and community engagement approaches; understanding of survey design and research methodologies.
* Ability or willingness to develop facilitation of workshops, focus groups and other qualitative research activities.
* Understanding of the legislative context of community engagement at a local government level in Victoria (Local Government Act 2020).
* Knowledge of planning for access, social equity and inclusion.
* Understanding of social policy and social impact assessment methodologies.
* Familiarity with budgeting techniques.
