About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Essential Safety Measures (ESM) Auditor to join our growing field team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional with strong technical knowledge of building compliance, fire safety systems, and Essential Safety Measures auditing.
In this role, you will conduct complex ESM inspections across residential, commercial, industrial, and government properties throughout Victoria, with occasional interstate travel. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior auditors, supporting operational excellence, and contributing to continuous improvement across the business.
Responsibilities:
ESM Site Inspections
* Conducting detailed Essential Safety Measures audits to an exceptional standard
* Managing and completing monthly inspections allocated by the Operations Manager
* Performing complex ESM audits and compliance projects
* Liaising with Operations and Booking Coordinators to ensure efficient scheduling and communication with tenants and property owners
* Assessing ESM items against relevant Australian Standards, Building Regulations, and NCC/BCA requirements
Reporting & Compliance
* Preparing accurate and professional audit reports using Uptick
* Providing recommendations, observations, and compliance requirements based on relevant legislation and standards
* Completing reports within KPI timeframes
* Researching and correctly referencing relevant standards and regulations where required
Quality & Process Management
* Maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism
* Ensuring all inspections include fully completed Take 5 assessments
* Managing task statuses, notes, and documentation within Uptick
* Completing monthly peer reviews and contributing constructive feedback
* Supporting ongoing improvement of audit procedures and systems
Client & Team Support
* Providing technical guidance and clarification to clients
* Leading client meetings and assisting with client education and portal training
* Supporting the Maintenance Department and field technicians with technical expertise
* Mentoring and assisting junior auditors
* Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services
About You
* Extensive knowledge of:
o Building Act & Building Regulations
o National Construction Code (NCC/BCA Volume 1)
o Relevant Australian Standards
o Essential Safety Measures / Fire Safety industry requirements
* Diploma or advanced diploma of Building Surveying
* Strong report writing and computer skills
* Experience using field service or compliance management software (Uptick experience highly regarded)
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable
* Client relationship management and customer service experience
* Experience mentoring or training team members
