About the Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking a talented Manager, Campus Planning to join the Property & Commercial team. The Manager, Campus Planning will lead the planning and development of the University's physical campus footprint, driving land use and master planning, integrating sustainability and transport strategies, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals and external frameworks. The Manager, Campus Planning will have the opportunity to shape vibrant, sustainable, and future-ready campus environments, while navigating evolving regulatory requirements, resource constraints, and emerging trends in education.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Western's Hawkesbury (Richmond) Campus, travel to other campuses of the University may be required. For further information, please refer to the Position Description linked here: Manager, Campus Planning - Position Description.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager, Campus Planning, will be responsible for a diverse range of duties that support the University's long-term vision and operational excellence, including:
* Leading the development and implementation of campus and precinct strategies.
* Providing expert advice on land use, zoning, and development opportunities.
* Assessing and interpreting State and Local Government plans and policies.
* Developing and implementing sustainability strategies for the built environment.
* Integrating environmental sustainability into planning and capital projects.
* Leading strategic transport and mobility planning to support sustainable campus access.
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to align planning initiatives.
* Managing planning projects from inception to implementation, including feasibility studies and business cases.
* Overseeing planning matters to advance rezoning and development approvals.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and collaborative spirit, including:
* Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, architecture, environmental design, or a related field, with extensive relevant experience.
* Experience in strategic land use and campus master planning within complex environments.
* Strong understanding of State and Local Government planning frameworks, development controls, and statutory processes.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainability and transport strategies in built environment contexts.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
* High-level interpersonal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to present complex information clearly.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 9 $159,739 to $170,588 p.a. (comprising Salary of $134,981 to $144,149 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
