This is an on‐site role suited to someone in the region or looking to make regional Victoria home.
About the role
Reporting to the Group CFO, you will take full ownership of the finance function for our transport business — leading day‐to‐day financial operations, managing the accounting team, and partnering with operational management to support growth.
The Group CFO oversees finance across all SE National entities; you'll be the senior finance leader dedicated to transport.
Key responsibilities
* Own all accounting functions for the transport business — accounts payable, receivable, general ledger and financial reporting
* Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports in line with accounting standards
* Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
* Lead and develop the accounting team
* Manage fleet and asset accounting, including vehicle depreciation and finance leases
* Oversee fuel tax credits and related compliance
* Conduct variance analysis and support budgeting and forecasting
* Manage cash flow and banking relationships to optimise working capital
* Ensure compliance with taxation, statutory and audit obligations
* Identify process improvement and cost optimisation opportunities
* Support executive decision‐making with timely financial analysis
What we're looking for
* A qualification in Commerce, Accounting or Finance, with CPA or CA accreditation (or working towards it)
* 5–7 years' post‐qualification experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role
* Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial analysis
* Proficiency in Xero
* Proven leadership in managing and developing finance teams
* Strong communication skills, able to explain financial information to non‐financial stakeholders
* Sound understanding of compliance, audit and internal control frameworks
* Experience in transport, logistics or a similar asset‐heavy industry (desirable)
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across departments
