About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) position is a clinical role responsible for clinical outcomes under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, you will ensure the provision of effective delivery of clinical services to consumers of the Mental Health Program, utilising nursing skills, knowledge and expertise.
You may be required to assume higher duty responsibilities in the planned or unplanned absence of the ANUM and be dedicated to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with Monash Health's iCARE values and key performance indicators
This Registered Psychiatric Nurse position is a clinical role responsible for clinical outcomes and will work under the direction of the ANM Registered Nurse (RN).
The incumbent will be required to work shift work over a 7 day, 24 hour roster. This is a part-time ongoing position.
You will be required to work as part of a consistent and cohesive therapeutic team, providing patients with an emotionally and physically safe and healthy environment in which to participate in their treatment.
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at East Bentleigh CCU, you will be required to be vigilant with regards to client needs and group dynamics most particularly with regards to occupational violence and aggression and hence be able to communicate with clients with behavioural and mental health problems.
The Registered Psychiatric Nurse will:
* Maintain an active caseload/service provision with the view to improve patient's health and quality of life
* Commit to developing and maintaining an evidence-based, best practice psychological knowledge and skillset
* Adhere to professional guidelines/codes, organisational policies/procedures and legislative requirements
* Participate in professional supervision/governance and professional development activities
* Work closely and cooperatively with all Monash Health colleagues and staff

About East Bentleigh CCU
East Bentleigh CCU provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial impairments. East Bentleigh CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community. East Bentleigh CCU offers an initial four week residential assessment that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs. Referral sources predominantly include Monash Health community mental health teams (CCTs and MSTTs), adult acute inpatient psychiatric units, and the secure extended care unit (SECU).
