An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Respiratory Technologist to join our specialist respiratory and sleep medicine practice providing respiratoryand home-based sleep study services in Waikiki.
The successful applicant will work with state-of-the-art respiratory and sleep diagnostic equipment within a supportive and professional multidisciplinary environment. While the role is primarily based in Waikiki, training and occasional work may be required in Nedlands depending on operational requirements.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for the performance of respiratory function testing, setup of home-based sleep studies, and the day-to-day operation of the respiratory laboratory, ensuring high professional and technical standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Performing high-quality lung function testing including spirometry and related respiratory investigations
* Preparation and setup of home-based sleep studies
* Providing patients with clear instruction and support regarding home sleep study equipment
* Ensuring accurate recording and documentation of respiratory and sleep study data
* Monitoring the quality and completeness of home sleep study recordings
* Maintenance and calibration of respiratory and sleep diagnostic equipment
* Ordering and monitoring laboratory and home sleep study consumables and supplies
* Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the laboratory environment
* Liaising effectively with medical, administrative, and technical staff
* Providing excellent patient care and communication at all times
* Assisting with quality assurance and laboratory protocols
* Other duties as directed by the Medical Director
Key Qualifications
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated ability to establish strong patient rapport
* Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Professional presentation and behaviour
* Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn laboratory software systems
* Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
* Bachelor degree in Science, Health Science, or related discipline
* Previous experience performing lung function testing
* Experience with home-based sleep study equipment
* Experience working within a respiratory laboratory or specialist medical practice
* Understanding of respiratory equipment calibration and maintenance
* Current CPR certification
Training will be provided for the appropriate applicant with suitable aptitude, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
