About the Roles
Location: Launceston & surrounds
Award: Passenger Vehicle Transportation Award
Classification: Grade 3 Casual ($35.26 per hour)
Days: Monday to Friday (early starts may be required)
Hours: Vary based on service needs; shifts will be offered according to operational requirements
We're seeking two Casual Drivers in the Launceston & Surrounds area to join our transport team working across our Community Transport, School Bus and Area Connect services. You'll use an 11‐seater commuter / wheelchair‐hoist van to undertake school runs (supported by a Bus Attendant), job seeker transport, social outings, wheelchair‐accessible transport and general community transport - helping people stay connected, independent and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe, professional and customer‐focused transport for a diverse range of passengers (note: school services include a Bus Attendant)
* Safely operate CTST vehicles ensuring passenger comfort and secure stowage of mobility aids and belongings
* Operate wheelchair hoists and ramps and correctly secure wheelchairs and tie‐downs (training provided)
* Follow run sheets, complete basic documentation and maintain accurate service and passenger records
* Adapt to changing schedules and passenger needs while staying calm and focused
* Communicate clearly and uphold CTST's supportive, passenger‐centred values
About You
You enjoy driving, engaging with people and providing great service. You're flexible, patient and confident working with passengers of all ages - older adults, students, job seekers and community members with varied needs.
You Will Bring:
* Experience driving passenger vehicles or community / transport / customer‐service roles
* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with people of all ages and backgrounds
* Ability to stay focused and manage distractions in the vehicle
* Confidence using technology, including an iPad for in‐vehicle tasks, and completing timesheets and training online
* A proactive, safety‐focused approach and ability to make decisions within the scope of the role
* Ability to work collaboratively with Coordinators and team members
* Capacity for light to moderate manual handling e.g. assisting to stow mobility aids (inherent requirement)
* Flexible and able to maintain a calm, positive approach when schedules or passenger needs change
* Experience in wheelchair transport (or willingness to undertake training)
* Previous experience working with older people and people with disability
* Knowledge of Launceston and surrounding municipalities
Licences & Requirements
* Hold current C Class (car) licence, minimum 2 years driving experience, no serious driving offences in the past 3 years
* Hold a PPV (Public Passenger Vehicle) Ancillary Certificate
* Undergo a National Police Check (Schedule 1)
* Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration
* Australian residency or valid Australian work visa
* Wheelchair and Child Safety training (provided)
* Be willing to travel within the region as needed
