Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer
We are seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers for permanent and fixed‐term vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027.
Role
The role is to improve the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Islander students by providing cultural and educational support, pastoral care, and by developing students' social, emotional, physical and academic skills.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, parents/guardians, teachers and the broader community.
* Advancing students' wellbeing, engagement, learning and attendance through culturally responsive strategies.
* Sharing knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture.
* Assisting teachers to understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
* Building culturally safe environments and managing curriculum and program delivery.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
* Valid Working With Children Check before commencement.
