About the Role

Due to recent market shifts toward zero emission vehicles and Volgren's strong focus on the development of innovative new bus solutions and processes. The Manufacturing Engineering department is looking to build upon a strong manufacturing team.

The purpose of this role is to plan, direct and coordinate projects. A key focus of this role is the design the implementation of jigs, fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks. Modification/maintenance of current and new processes. Manage and plan the manufacturing activities focused on continuous improvements and cost savings. The right candidate will supplement Volgren's Manufacturing Engineering team while supporting WA production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Evaluation of new production machines/processes considering EV, Hybrid and diesel buses.
* Provide day-to-day hands on engineering support to the production teams.
* Design and develop jigs, fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks to support production and assembly processes.
* Inspecting plant and machinery to ensure optimum performance is maintained with a focus on Lean manufacturing.
* Participate in process audits to ensure adherence to manufacturing process standards.
* Lead on major projects including delivery, project status, milestones and barriers.
* Develop and maintain process documentation – standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams etc.
* Integration Event completion (Bus build hours meet standards and resources in available time).
* Analysing workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data and production schedules, costs to determine optimum efficiency.
* Assist with supplier engagement for tooling manufacture and validation.
* Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.

Competencies

* Safety focused on all aspects of the role and on the factory floor.
* Jig/Fixture design and assembly utilising AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a requirement of the role.
* Auto Electrical knowledge is desirable.
* Problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Project management and time management skills.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and implementation of lean methodologies.
* Excellent eye for detail and dedication to accuracy.
* Able to work autonomously and part of a team.
* Excellent communications skills from shop floor to management.

Qualifications/Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Production engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre‐employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test.
