Venue Support Worker
West Heidelberg and Greensborough Locations
The Venue Support Program has a focus on supporting and encouraging responsible gambling practices and environments within the gaming industry, consistent with industry Codes of Conduct, including regulatory compliances and directives.
The Venue Support Worker role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders including internal, external and gaming venues with a focus on reducing the impacts of gambling harm.
The role includes working within a multidisciplinary providing prevention, early intervention, counselling and support programs for individuals, families, and community members impacted by gambling harm.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver Responsible Service of Gaming Modules 2 & 4
* Develop the skills, knowledge and confidence of venue staff to identify and respond to signs of gambling harm
* Collaboration and partnership with gaming venues across the North and North Western catchments
* Raise venue staff awareness of Gambler's Help services, self exclusion programs and other support services in order to support their role in assisting patrons to access services
* Promote best practice approaches, support gambling harm minimisation and encourage continuous improvement
* Utilise Department of Health Client Management System to track and record venue engagements, training and meetings
* Facilitation and delivery of training, information sessions, service promotion activities and other initiatives that achieve program objectives
* Venue support may also work collaboratively to support delivery of local Gambler's Help services across community education (including the sporting clubs and schools programs) therapeutic counselling and / or financial counselling
* Participate and contribute to agency and program level service planning
* Meet all KPIs as set by the Department of Health
* Provide support to the Senior Health Promotion Officer
Requirements:
* Certificate IV Training and Assessment
* Knowledge of best practice in Responsible Service of Gaming
* Knowledge of gambling harm and related concepts (e.g. harm minimisation, public health approaches)
* Understanding of or previous experience in, the gaming industry and the operation of venues
* Time Management/Flexibility - Ability to manage multiple relationships and multiple requirements - including flexibility to work before or after business hours and extensive external travel to engage with key industry stakeholders
* Program reporting - Ability to complete reports and adhere to performance management framework in line with Gambler's Help operational guidelines
* Communication - strong written, verbal
* Ability to understand and apply content of mandatory gaming codes of conduct/regulatory frameworks and public health, harm minimisation approaches
* Marketing/Service Promotion - marketing, service promotion and event planning and facilitation skills
* Ability to work autonomously
* Understanding of and adaptability to different learning styles
