We're looking for a Senior Storage Engineer to join our team supporting a key client in Geelong.
This role is best suited to someone who enjoys hands‐on operational engineering work in complex enterprise environments – supporting critical storage, backup and infrastructure platforms, troubleshooting issues, improving reliability, and working as part of a collaborative operational support team.
This is not an architecture or presales role. We're looking for someone who is operationally focused, technically strong, and comfortable working across BAU support, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting and on‐call support in a large‐scale environment.
The role is onsite full time for the first 3 months to support onboarding and integration with the team, before moving to a hybrid arrangement. An on‐call roster applies approximately every 3‐4 weeks and includes an additional allowance plus overtime payments when called out.
What you'll be doing
* Supporting and maintaining enterprise storage, backup and virtualisation platforms in a production environment
* Performing operational support, troubleshooting, maintenance and lifecycle activities across SAN, NAS and backup infrastructure
* Managing storage provisioning, performance tuning, capacity management and incident resolution
* Supporting backup and disaster recovery environments including monitoring, restores, testing and optimisation
* Performing firmware upgrades, patching and infrastructure maintenance activities
* Working across technologies including Dell EMC Unity, PowerScale, VxRail, VMware and enterprise backup platforms
* Participating in operational support processes including incidents, changes, problem management and on‐call support
* Collaborating closely with infrastructure, server, network and operational support teams
What we're looking for
* Strong hands‐on experience supporting enterprise storage and backup environments in operational or managed services environments
* Experience with technologies such as Dell EMC, SAN/NAS platforms, Data Domain, Avamar, NetBackup, Commvault or Veeam
* Experience working with VMware and enterprise infrastructure platforms
* Strong troubleshooting capability across storage, backup and infrastructure environments
* Experience with SAN administration, storage provisioning, performance analysis and operational support
* Comfortable working in BAU operational environments with incident, change and escalation responsibilities
* Experience participating in on‐call support rosters within critical infrastructure environments
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‐oriented approach
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel between sites if required
