Engineering Manager – Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems

Banham WA is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to establish and lead its Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems division in Australia. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for developing the company's engineering capability in fire alarm and suppression systems and supporting the business to deliver high quality Engineering, Procurement and Construction services across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and mining sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical and engineering function of the division, overseeing project delivery, supporting compliance with Australian standards, developing manufacturer and supplier relationships, and building a capable technical team as the division grows.
Key Responsibilities
* Establishing and leading Banham's fire alarm and suppression systems engineering capability in Western Australia.
* Developing technical systems, processes and procedures for the delivery of fire alarm and suppression system projects.
* Planning, organising and coordinating engineering and technical operations for fire alarm and suppression systems projects.
* Providing technical leadership on system design, equipment selection, procurement, installation methodology, commissioning and project handover.
* Overseeing engineering quality, technical compliance, project risk and delivery standards.
* Ensuring all projects are delivered in accordance with applicable Australian standards, codes, safety requirements and client specifications.
* Supporting the development of Engineering, Procurement and Construction service offerings, including design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
* Assessing and engaging suitable manufacturers and suppliers whose products meet Australian standards and project requirements.
* Liaising with manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, contractors and clients regarding technical approvals, product suitability, project requirements and delivery outcomes.
* Managing project budgets, cost control, resourcing requirements, timelines and profitability.
* Supporting tender submissions and proposals by providing technical input, engineering methodology and project delivery advice.
* Recruiting, leading, mentoring and developing engineering, project and technical team members as the division expands.
* Reporting to senior management on engineering performance, project delivery, compliance, commercial outcomes and future capability requirements.
Skills and Experience Required
The successful applicant must have:
* Relevant qualifications in engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, fire protection engineering, building services engineering or a closely related field.
* Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, system integration, technical design requirements, commissioning processes and compliance obligations.
* Experience managing engineering or technical teams and coordinating project delivery.
* Experience working with manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, contractors and clients.
* Strong understanding of project budgets, cost control, procurement, quality assurance and risk management.
* Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to develop a new technical function, implement systems and support business growth.
* Experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, mining, resources or energy projects.
* Familiarity with Australian fire protection standards and regulatory requirements.
* Experience delivering EPC or design and construct projects.
* Experience establishing new technical capability, service lines or business units.
