Salary: Registrar Year 1-7 $157,338 to $210,025 p.a. or Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $230,231 to $240,675 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation and professional development allowance)

This is a Fixed Term Full Timeappointment for 12-months commencing in February 2027, with thepossibility of extension(s).

POSITIONPROFILE

AsTrainee Registrar of Public Health, you will work with the PublicHealth Physician and Goldfields Public Health Unit to develop andsupport projects in disease control and immunisation.

A key function of thisposition will be to liaise with a variety of stakeholders includinghospital clinicians, general practitioners, regional public healthteams, sexual health teams and Aboriginal community-controlledhealth services whilst running screening programs and managingdisease outbreaks.

You be will also be requiredto carry out epidemiological analysis, collaborate with healthpromotion and Local Government to respond to other public healthrisk and provide education and advice to general practice, otherhealth staff and community-based organisations in relation topublic health issues such as environmental health and localgovernment public health planning.

The successful applicant willwork with a dynamic multidisciplinary public health team under theguidance of the Public Health Physician for the Goldfields Region.Particular issues include Trachoma, sexually transmitted diseases,TB and strong links with the NG Lands.

The position isaccredited for Advanced Public Health Training with the RoyalAustralasian College of Physicians and has an active educationprogram and strong culture of learning, research and academicachievement.

AREAPROFILE

REGIONPROFILE

TheGoldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers theGoldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region islocated in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country HealthService Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located inKalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located inLaverton, Leonora and Norseman. The Goldfields is a culturally richregion with several Aboriginal communities spread out across theregion, 16 distinct Aboriginal language groups and an Aboriginalpopulation that represents 12.3 per cent of our total population,with 1 in 10 people, on average, identifying as Aboriginal – thisin comparison to the state average of 3.6 per cent. The regionsupports a wide range of industry, including mining, agriculture,aquaculture and tourism. Mining is the predominant sector in thecentral and northern parts of the region, with a well-establishedagricultural sector in the south.

Kalgoorlie is a historic citywith a significant mining community with excellent communityservices and educational facilities.

SALARY

Registrar Year 1-7$157,338 to $210,025 p.a. (*includes base salary $128,760to $175,802, professional development allowance $11,721 and 12%employer contributed superannuation p.a.*)

Senior Registrar Year1-2, $230,231 to $240,675 p.a. (*includes base salary$188,817 to $198,142, professional development allowance $16,747and 12% employer contributed superannuation p.a.*)

ELIGIBILITY TOAPPLY

Tobe successful you will need to hold AHPRA registration and beeligible to enrol as an Advanced Trainee in the Australian Facultyof Public Health Medicine.

You will also need to havecompleted a Master of Public Health Medicine and have at leastthree years post-graduate medical experience.

Demonstrated knowledge andunderstanding of cultural issues and social determinantsparticularly relating to Aboriginal Health is amust.

* Whilst this selectionprocess will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, itmay also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughoutthe health service. In addition to this, should the successfulapplicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from thisprocess. Both of these options remain valid for a period oftwelve (12) months from whenthe authorised delegateendorses the recruitment decision.
