Participate and train in the diagnostic Haematology service for inpatients and outpatients of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). Participate in undergraduate and post graduate teaching. Participate in research and quality improvement activities.
Details of appointment:
* Fixed term full‐time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 13 July 2026 – 29 January 2027.
* 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
Responsibilities:
* Providing a consultative haematology service in conjunction with the on‐call Haematologist for inpatients at LGH.
* Providing phone advice for GPs and rural hospitals.
* Regular outpatient clinics under supervision of Consultant Haematologists.
* Assisting with assessment and management of ambulatory haematology patients requiring treatment within the WP Holman Clinic outpatient facility.
* Advising, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior medical staff assigned to the care of inpatient haematology patients at LGH when needed, including participation in the on‐call roster with Consultant Support.
* Participation in local research projects and clinical trials.
Team:
The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive cancer care to the population of Northern/North West Tasmania (250,000 people). The haematology service at Launceston General offers an integrated, multi‐disciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment using state‐of‐the‐art technology.

Eligibility:
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Desirable criteria:
* Prior experience in clinical and/or laboratory haematology.
