Occupational Health & Safety (Primary Focus – 80%)
Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture across all West Coast Poly operations.
Provide visible leadership and coaching to managers, supervisors and employees on safe work practices and behaviours.
Drive proactive safety engagement and accountability at all levels of the business.
Facilitate toolbox meetings, safety communications and awareness initiatives.
Safety Systems & Compliance
Maintain and continuously improve the company WHS Management System.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards.
Develop, review and implement:
* SWMS
* SOPs
* Safe operating procedures
* Safety policies and procedures
Manage contractor safety compliance and onboarding requirements.
Coordinate internal and external safety audits.
Identify workplace hazards and implement practical risk controls.
Conduct workplace inspections and safety observations across manufacturing and operational areas.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Monitor and report on safety trends, hazards, near misses and incidents.
Injury Management & Workers Compensation
Manage workplace injury and return-to-work processes.
Liaise with injured employees, medical providers and insurers.
Coordinate suitable duties and rehabilitation plans.
Maintain accurate workers compensation documentation and reporting.
Training & Capability
Coordinate mandatory safety training and competency records.
Support leadership capability in safety management and incident response.
Assist with inductions for employees, contractors and visitors.
Identify training gaps and facilitate ongoing compliance training.
Compliance Reporting
Maintain safety records, registers and compliance documentation.
Prepare safety metrics, reports and recommendations for leadership meetings.
Support ISO accreditation and compliance activities where applicable.
Human Resources Responsibilities (Secondary Focus – 20%) General HR Support
Support recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities.
Assist managers with employee relations and performance management matters.
Maintain HR policies, procedures and employee records.
Coordinate probation reviews and employee documentation.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Support initiatives that improve employee engagement, retention and workplace culture.
Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on people management practices.
Support employee wellbeing initiatives and programs.
Compliance & Administration
Ensure HR practices comply with Fair Work legislation and company policies.
Assist with policy development and implementation.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrated experience in a senior WHS or Safety Management role within manufacturing, industrial or heavy industry environments.
Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
Experience managing workplace investigations, risk assessments and corrective actions.
Experience coordinating return-to-work and workers compensation processes.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence and build positive safety behaviours across all levels.
Strong organisational and administrative capability.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and HR/safety systems.
Experience in HR management or generalist HR functions.
Experience within plastics, fabrication, engineering or manufacturing industries.
Experience with ISO systems and audits.
Qualifications
Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
Current Return to Work Coordinator certification (or ability to obtain)
Degree qualification in WHS, Human Resources or related discipline
ICAM or similar incident investigation training
Mental Health First Aid certification

This role operates across both office and manufacturing environments and requires regular interaction with production, maintenance and operational teams within a heavy industrial setting.
