Role Description
We are seeking a full‐time Senior Finance Manager to join our team in Sydney, NSW in a hybrid capacity, with a mix of in‐office and remote work. In this role, you will oversee finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies, reporting to our local fractional CFO and our HQ financial controlling team. Key responsibilities include financial planning and analysis, preparing budgets, forecasting, and managing cash flow. You will lead efforts to optimise financial processes, provide insights to support strategic decision‐making, and collaborate with cross‐functional teams to achieve business goals. Your responsibilities will include:
* Own the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‐end accruals
* Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year‐end close process in partnership with the CFO
* Prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and variance analysis against budget
* Manage the full accounts payable cycle: vendor onboarding, bill entry, approvals, payment runs, and year‐end reporting
* Oversee accounts receivable: customer invoicing, collections follow‐up, cash application, and aging reviews
* Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany accounts on a timely basis
* Process or coordinate payroll, ensuring accurate recording of wages, benefits, PTO accruals, and related tax liabilities
* Monitor cash position and prepare regular cash flow updates for the CFO
* Support the CFO in preparing schedules and documentation for external auditors, tax preparers, and investors
* Ensure timely filing of sales tax, use tax, business licenses, and other regulatory obligations
* Maintain organised, audit‐ready records and enforce strong internal controls and segregation of duties
* Identify and implement process and systems improvements to shorten close cycles and reduce manual work
Your strengths and qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or staff accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
* Strong working knowledge of full‐cycle accounting and relevant accounting standards
* Advanced proficiency with an accounting ERP (Unleashed, XERO, Netsuite ideal)
* Experience processing payroll (platform preferred Xero, Employment Hero)
* Exposure to multi‐entity and/or multi‐currency operations is a strong plus
* Prior experience supporting external audits, tax engagements, or fundraising/diligence processes
* Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain financial data to non‐finance stakeholders
