Emergency Medicine Consultant Role

As a seasoned Emergency Medicine Consultant, you will deliver exceptional care to a diverse patient population, upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence. Your role will encompass guiding junior medical staff, medical students, nurses, and allied health professionals in fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Beyond your core clinical duties, you will contribute meaningfully to teaching, quality and safety initiatives, clinical audits, and service development, supporting the evolution of best-practice emergency care. You will also be encouraged to participate in research and ongoing professional development.
About the Position:
You will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services to Emergency Department patients at Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Health Services, both individually and as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Key responsibilities include:
* Providing specialist-level care to patients
* Coordinating follow-up care for patients
* Offering clinical supervision to senior medical practitioners, trainee medical officers, and medical students
* Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
* Providing direction and supervision to registrars, resident medical officers, and interns
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent qualification
* Appropriate specialist qualifications, such as Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM), or PRACP Paediatric Emergency Physician (PEM)
* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, or meet the criteria of the SA Medical Officers Award
* Extensive experience and broad medical expertise across diverse disciplines relevant to emergency medicine
* Ongoing professional development and participation in accredited continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification
* Experience in supervising and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
* Contribution to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and outcomes
