13th May, 2026 RSL Queensland (RSLQ) is a dynamic, not-for-profit organisation delivering innovative programs and initiatives that support veterans and their families. As an RSLQ Housing Support Practitioner, you’ll provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and person-centred support to veterans and families facing housing challenges. Utilising your expertise in trauma-informed and strengths-based case management, you will empower clients to overcome barriers to securing and maintaining safe, stable, and sustainable housing. Your role – to walk beside and guide clients through the complexities of the rental market, assisting them in accessing public, social and community housing options where eligible. Key responsibilities include (though not limited to): Planning and providing safe, compassionate, integrated and holistic homelessness support that locates the veteran and/or their family Fostering active veteran and/or family engagement in the identification, development and implementation of individualised housing goals through personalised case management plans Applying best practice and veteran-centred knowledge and skills to engage, support, and empower veterans and their families to identify and overcome their homelessness barriers to meet need Case managing up to 20 clients that are experiencing (or are at risk of) homelessness Assisting with applications for social and community housing; private rental applications; and tenancy sustainment strategies and support Providing support that is proactive, persistent, reliable, practical and comprehensive in a manner that is respectful of the dignity and privacy of veterans and their families. Empowering veterans and their families to make informed decisions regarding their housing needs Qualifications and experience you'll need: A Degree in Social Work, Human Services or Behavioural Sciences or a Cert IV or higher in Community Services with a minimum of 12 months relevant experience Experience working in housing and homelessness services, or community coordination. Demonstrated experience with, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of working with, Queensland Government tenancy legislation, frameworks and Homelessness Guidelines, Specifications and Requirements. Case management experience Demonstrated capacity to practice effectively within a multi-disciplinary team with agility and adaptability Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders A Queensland C class drivers’ licence and the flexibility to work across Queensland Your exposure to the veteran and ADF communities will make your application even more competitive.
