An established energy consulting and advisory business is seeking an experienced Energy Market Modelling Manager to lead a growing team supporting major participants across Australia's evolving energy sector.
This is an opportunity to lead a team working on high-impact projects across renewable energy, batteries, market strategy, policy, and the broader energy transition landscape. You will combine technical expertise with people leadership, overseeing the delivery of complex market modelling projects while mentoring and developing a team of specialists.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of approximately five direct reports, providing coaching, mentoring and development support
* Oversee the delivery of electricity market modelling and analytical projects using PLEXOS
* Set priorities and allocate resources across multiple projects and client engagements
* Analyse market outcomes, pricing trends and future scenarios across the Australian energy market
* Support forecasting and scenario analysis across generation, storage and renewable assets
* Translate complex modelling outputs into practical commercial recommendations for clients and stakeholders
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Drive improvements in modelling methodologies, processes and analytical capability
* Contribute to business growth initiatives, project opportunities and strategic planning
About You
We're looking for a commercially minded leader with strong technical capability and experience managing teams and delivering complex analytical work.
You will bring:
* Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring teams within an analytical, consulting or energy market environment
* Strong experience with PLEXOS and similar market modelling platforms
* Sound understanding of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM)
* Background in energy markets, power systems, economics, engineering, quantitative analysis or a related field
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Experience using Python, SQL, VBA or similar analytical tools is highly regarded
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
* Experience managing multiple priorities and leading project delivery
