The Disability Liaison Clinician is a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership.

The purpose of the position is to provide leadership, facilitate research, education and professional collaboration in the specialty of disability. This position provides a face to face interface for clients with a disability and their carers when interacting with ISLHD clinical services.

This position is the key resource within the ISLHD providing leadership, advocacy and clinical expertise to staff who are required to provide patient‑centred clinical care to patients with disabilities and their families.

This position will be required to attend any of the LHD hospitals or sites providing services to patients with a disability or their carers.

Provide expert clinical advice to patients, carers, and other health care professionals within Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. Develop and facilitate implementation and evaluate care management plans for patients with complex health needs related to disability.

Provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of supportive and appropriate clinical practice for patients with a disability and their carers/families.

Initiate and utilise findings of research in the provision of clinical services.

Contribute to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs.

Participate in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical services.

* Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role
* Working With Children Check (WWCC)
* Current AHPRA Registration or Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

This is a temporary leave relief position until 31 January 2027 with the possibility of extension. Position to commence January 2026.
