Project Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world‐class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure, providing these services across all disciplines and functions for this capital project.
Job Summary
In this role you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects with specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met and complex issues are resolved. This position is designated as part‐time telework and may require at least three days of in‐person attendance per week; schedules will be determined with the supervisor.
Major Responsibilities
* Evaluate, select and apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment for adaptations and modifications.
* Plan plant and piping layouts and prepare detailed designs and drawings for structures, including load sketches and orientation and elevation drawings.
* Examine and analyze pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
* Prepare plant design and piping designs and construction drawings using 2‐D / 3‐D CAD, presentation graphics and plant design models and codes.
* Optimize facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology and operational and maintenance requirements.
* Participate in design reviews and recommend approval of drawings and data for compliance with requirements.
* Prepare building material interface details for review by senior personnel.
* Acquire knowledge of and utilize BSAPs, SCPs and other software, questioning outputs that seem unreasonable.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Evaluate, select and apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria using independent judgment.
* Examine and analyze pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
* Prepare specifications and related documents.
* Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
* Strong technical knowledge of construction piping installation, hydrotesting and pneumatic pipe testing, with familiarity of Universal Plant Viewer preferred.
* Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Fighter Tools, INFOWorks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
* Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
